Hornets to visit ‘Eaters

The UC Irvine men’s basketball team will attempt to even its record
tonight against visiting Sacramento State in a 7:05 nonconference
game at the Bren Events Center.
UCI (1-2) enters with a two-game losing streak after dropping road
dates at USC and UCLA last week.
Coach Pat Douglass’ Anteaters are hoping to avenge a 64-56 loss
last season at Sacramento State against a Hornet squad that comes in
1-3.
The Hornets’ pressure defense has helped create 175 combined
turnovers, 86 by Sacramento State, in four games. By comparison, UCI
and its opponents have a combined 98 turnovers, 53 by the ‘Eaters,
through four games.
UCI junior point guard Aaron Fitzgerald (20.3 points per game)
entered the week leading the Big West Conference in scoring.
Fans who bring an unwrapped toy valued at at least $10, will be
admitted free. The toys will go to Beta Foster Care.
