Children palette winners announced
The winners of the first Children’s Holiday Palette Exhibition were
announced Wednesday by the Laguna Beach Arts Commission.
Cultural arts manager, Sian Poeschl said the contest was designed
to make every entry a winner. “The arts commission had a very hard
time,” Poeschl said. “It was a difficult choice.”
Poeschl said the commission took several days to review the
more-than-80 designs entered.
All entries, including those on the wooden palettes, will be on
display inside City Hall in the foyer area starting Dec. 1. The
winners will be officially acknowledged by the City Council at a
ceremony during the Dec. 7 council meeting.
The nine winning designs were created by the following artists:
Tyler Cheves, 6, Emily Miller, 7, Jacob Tompkins, 8, Maddy Lamb, 10,
Katie Nemsik, 11, Makaila Palmer, 12, Elise Hempen, 14 and Halle
Redfearn, 7.
Poeschl said she called and notified the winning artists on
Wednesday. “Everyone’s very excited and looking forward to the
ceremony,” Poeschl said.
