Brownie Troop 187, based at Mariners Christian School in Costa Mesa,
collected more than 200 used pet collars and leashes to be donated to
the Dover Shores Pet Center “Pick-A-Pet” program. The supplies were
donated to make it easier for animals to be adopted. ... The Orange
Coast College speech and debate team took third place at a Nov. 5 to
7 tournament at Cal State Northridge. Jeremiah Pfaff of Newport Beach
was a finalist in the novice persuasion competition and took ninth
place in novice debate. ... Cadet Alexander DiFonzo of Newport Beach
earned a place on the Honor Roll at St. John’s Military School in
Salina, Kan. The school has been designated an Honor School with
Distinction by the Cadet Command of the U.S. Army’s Junior ROTC
Program. DiFonzo’s parents are Newport Beach residents Kevin and
Susan DiFonzo. ... Tim Gannaway has been named the chief information
officer at Costa Mesa-based RSM EquiCo, a financial firm specializing
in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Gannaway started with the
company in 2000 as vice president of information technology and will
continue to be in charge of the firm’s technology in his new
position. Gannaway received his MBA from UC Irvine.
