Finding out interesting facts about Africa

The Huntington Beach Independent went to Carden Conservatory and

asked middle school students, in their studies of Uganda, ‘What was

the most interesting fact learned thus far?’

“I think it’s pretty interesting that their government has been so

corrupted.”

“I think that the most interesting thing is they’re so poor and in

poverty and that we’re so different from them and we can help make a

difference.”

KACY DALTON, 13

Los Alamitos

“I’d have to say the infant mortality rate, compared to the United

States.”

PAUL MURPHY, 12

Seal Beach

“The most interesting thing was that people come and they try to

shoot them even though they have nothing already.”

KELSEY WESTON, 13

“Families have to dig holes in the ground to sleep in because the

rebels are coming to town and shooting everyone and they have a

chance to die.”
