Former treasurer court date set
Michael Rangel, former PTA treasurer and parent at Kettler
Elementary School, will be arraigned in court on Nov. 16 on a charge
of grand theft in connection with $40,000 he allegedly stole from the
Kettler Elementary School PTA between March 2003 and May 2004.
Police investigated Rangel in June 2004 when Cathy Lindsey,
Kettler PTA president, reported missing funds. Police detectives then
investigated Rangel’s bank records and found that deposits made to
his bank account matched withdrawals from the PTA’s finances, police
said.
Police said Rangel was not arrested because he cooperated with
detectives.
