Hot Shots shoot past Royal Rock Stars
A complete team effort lifted the HB Highlighters to first place in
pool play in AYSO Region 55 girls’ under-12 Division action.
Shianne Phoenix drilled a pair of second half goals and the
Highlighters defense came up with a shutout in a 3-0 victory over
Code Red.
Maddie Cashman opened up the scoring in the first half when she
netted a goal off a well-timed pass by Kendra Harrison.
That score stood for a 1-0 halftime lead, as Highlighters Geena
Martinez, Spencer Wayne and Izzy Zamora kept the pressure on Code
Red’s attack, and Sloan Turner protected the net.
Phoenix gave the Highlighters breathing room with her two
second-half goals, one which came off a textbook pass from attacker
Lindsay Conlisk.
