Corona del Mar still unbeaten in league
The Corona del Mar High girls volleyball team defeated University,
25-14, 25-17, 25-18 in a Pacific Coast League match Tuesday at CdM.
Senior Lindsey Ensign led the Sea Kings (19-4, 7-0 in league) with
nine kills, while senior Shannon McMenomy had seven kills, one
service ace and one block for Corona del Mar.
Senior Traci Lawson added 21 assists and senior Jordan Smith had
15 digs and two aces.
Corona del Mar hosts Calvary Chapel on Thursday at CdM and then
travels to Northwood and Laguna Beach next week to finish out the
Pacific Coast League.
Sailors downed in Sea View
* The Newport Harbor High girls volleyball team gave up its second
Sea View League loss on Tuesday as host Aliso Niguel defeated the
Sailors, 25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 26-24.
Senior Taryn Tarnutzer led the Sailors (8-8, 5-2 in league) with
12 kills, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Wolverines.
Newport Harbor plays at Irvine on Thursday and then the Tournament
of Champions in Santa Barbara Friday. Laguna Hills and Woodbridge are
the remaining Sea View League matches for the Sailors.
