The UC Irvine women’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 nonconference clash
with visiting UC Davis Sunday at Anteater Stadium.
It was the third straight defeat for UCI (4-12-2) and its eighth
setback in its last nine games. It was also the eighth time this
season the Anteaters have been shut out.
Sita Kuteira banged one off the crossbar and in on a breakaway to
open the scoring for the Aggies (6-9-1) in the 18th minute.
Lindsey Raymond finalized the scoring on a cross from Annie
McAllister in the 33rd minute
The Anteaters outshot the Aggies, 9-3, in the second half, 10-8
for the game.
UCI sophomore goalkeeper Marissa Welliver had three saves, while
Krystyn Lizak had four to earn the shutout for the visitors.
The Anteaters close out the season this by playing host to UC
Riverside Friday at 7 p.m. and Cal State Fullerton Sunday at 1 p.m.
