Forrest and Traglia team for scores

The Jr. Clinic Silver defeated Woodcrest, 13-7, behind an aerial
attack combination led by quarterback Chase Forrest and receiver
Tanner Traglia Saturday in a Newport-Mesa Jr. All-American football
game.
Forrest and Traglia hooked up for a 51-yard touchdown pass and a
50-yard touchdown pass to lead the Seahawk air assault on the
Generals. The defense, led by Jake Favreau, Keaton Cablay, Sage
Fleming, Tate Smith and Forrest stopped a late General serge in the
fourth quarter to preserve the win.
The Generals drove to the Seahawk 10 before the defense made its
final stand, giving the ball back to the offense with 1:44 left on
the clock. The offense then ran out the clock on fourth down and one
second left on the clock -- Forrest took a knee to ensure victory.
The offensive line was led by Max Carr, Austin Arico, Dane
Valdivia, Quint Moses, Charlie Padden, Andrew Shearer, Marshall
Sepulveda and Lukas Nienhuis. Stephen Cureton and Grant Nutt both
played at full back with solid blocking. The Seahawk defense was led
by Valdivia with a fourth down tackle for a loss, Moses and Arico
recording tackles for losses and Fleming making a touchdown-saving
tackle on the last defensive stand.
Spencer Lujan scored a PAT and also stood out on defense. The
Seahawks are now 2-0 in conference and face league-leading Long Beach
Poly Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Seahawk Stadium at Bonita Creek Park.
* Dolphins 32, Seahawks 0
In the first quarter behind, the Seahawk offensive line of James
Barrett, Chad Sheldon, Trevor Branca, Will Eary, Colin Duffy and Matt
McKinnon -- running backs Noah Howe and Nic Landstrom chewed up
yardage against the Huntington Beach Dolphins. But the Dolphin team
proved to be much quicker on the outside and took a 20-0 lead into
halftime.
Clay Woodward started the third quarter with a powerful 15-yard
run followed by quarterback keepers of six and eight yards by Clint
Henderson and an eight-yard run by Quest Truxton.
The Seahawk defense, led by Jamal Bazzi, Jeremiah Barwick and
Austin Robert held the Dolphins scoreless in the fourth quarter. Alex
Fuller, starting at cornerback, was the Seahawk player of the game
with six tackles on defense and solid blocking on offense.
* Seahawks Clinic Blue 35, South Bay Packers 0
The Newport-Mesa Clinic Division Blue team improved to 2-0 in
league play last Saturday with an impressive 35-0 road victory over
the South Bay Packers in a boys under-10 game.
The Seahawk defense again set the tone by allowing just two first
downs the entire game. Linebackers Zack Wade, Chase Favreau, Jack
Kanen and Devon Traglia spearheaded the defensive effort with
consistent tackling and dropped Packer runners for negative yards.
Kellon Truxton, Joseph Scrivner, Jake Hall, Erik Fisher, Andrew
Mulcaire, Dylan Spengler, Casey Worden and Willie Pyle also added to
the strong defensive effort. The Seahawks have now held their
opponents scoreless over the last 10 quarters of football.
On offense the Seahawks dominated the line of scrimmage much of
the day. Justis Gildart, Favreau and Wade ran the ball effectively
and all had long touchdown runs.
Large holes created by the offensive line were opened by Ian
Baugh, Bryce Batcheller, Jake Huish, Hunter Molnar,Bradley Courier,
Stephen Pratty, Casey Shearer and Zack Vayda.
This week the Seahawks again travel to Los Angeles to take on the
perennial power Mona Park Buccaneers in a key matchup of league
titans.
* Irvine Chargers 24, Newport Junior Midget Seahawks 13
The Junior Midgets Seahawks were topped in the competion with the
Irvine Chargers on Saturday. The Chargers scored first, but the
Seahawks were quick to respond with a touchdown run by Coby Peterson
-- but it was called back by a penalty.
Thanks to a formidable offensive line, consisting of Vincint
Galvez, Andrew Paddon, Ron Sadler, William Ham, Kyle Cablay, Sean
Breslin and Andrew Yelich, quarterback Mitch Sands connected with
receiver J.B. Green to put the Seahawks on the 5-yard line. The
Seahawks were unable to convert before halftime, leaving the score
Chargers 12, Seahawks 0.
The Seahawks came back strong in the second quarter with excellent
defensive work by Cathan Cokas, Grant Keligian, Taylor McSunas,
Michael McKay, Robert Connealy, Dutch Lamons, Nicholas Svendsen and
Andrew Hicks. Tight end Matt Morris caught a long pass from Sands to
set up a touchdown run by Michael Helfrich.
The Seahawk secondary, lead by Brandon Kula, Alex Swigert, Sean
Mangano, Adrian Luchs, and Tyler Haly stopped the Charger passing
game, returning the ball to the Seahawk offense. Sands landed a
40-yard pass to receiver Coby Peterson, which running back Danny
Miller later converted into a Seahawk touchdown.
But the Seahawks ran out of time an were defeated 24-13.
* Carson Colts 30, Jr. Pee Wee Seahawks 6
At Bonita Creek, the Jr. Pee Wee Seahawks were outplayed by the
visiting Carson Colts 30-6. After spotting the Colts an 18-point lead
after the first quarter by turning the ball over and several other
miscues, the Seahawks clamped down and contained the Colts for the
rest of the day.
On offense, with Blair Luchs at the helm, the Seahawks were able
to put together a six-play drive, with John Barton scoring from a
yard out. During that series, the offensive line, lead by Zack
Beaudin, Mario Rosales, Ben Paul, AJ Swies, Trent Anderson and
Vincent Aqueveque, played with tenacity and determination.
On defense, Aaron White set the tone by making some outstanding
tackles from the defensive tackle position, as well as Jake Ambrose
who was penetrating through a talented Colt offensive line. Luchs,
Ryan Paul, Chasen Mcnaughten, Tyler Barbato, Risser, Aqueveque and
Swies also contributed on the defensive side of the ball.
