The visiting women’s soccer team from the University of the Pacific

rallied for a 2-1 Big West Conference victory over UC Irvine Sunday

at Anteater Stadium.

Anteater freshman Frankee Kelly opened the scoring in the 24th

minute. The scoring opportunity began with a cross by sophomore

Britney Webster that was subsequently deflected by freshman Kim

Conlan.

UCI (3-9-2, 0-4-0 in conference) took a 1-0 lead into halftime,

but Carmen Padilla scored the equalizer for the Tigers (6-3-4, 2-0-2)

in the 52nd minute.

UOP’s Sadye Reish converted a cross from Padilla into the

game-winning goal in the 73rd minute.

UCI sophomore goalkeeper Marissa Welliver had eight saves, while

Jamie Souza had three saves for the Tigers.

Kelly had three shots for the hosts, for whom Webster and Tara

Weldon had two apiece.

It was the fifth straight loss for UCI and extended the ‘Eaters

winless streak to eight contests. UCI has scored just four goals in

those eight games and Sunday was the 12th time in 14 games this

season UCI has been held to fewer than two goals.

UCI continues Big West play Friday when it visits the Idaho

Vandals.
