The Lab issues space

to new specialty store

The newest store at the Lab in Costa Mesa is Standard Issue, a

newsstand offering media that focuses on architecture and design,

fashion, music and culture, sports and automotive topics.

The store also sells books, cards and art supplies. The store is

open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a grand

opening scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. The event will feature

music by jazz/soul musician Drew Bray, food and drinks and 10% off

all items in the store. Standard Issue is at the Lab, 2930 Bristol

Furnishings sale will benefit families in need

Parent Help USA, a nonprofit organization that aims to prevent

violence against children, will hold a household items and furniture

sale today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of its office at

330 W. Bay St. in Costa Mesa.

Money raised from the sale will be used for family crisis

prevention programs provided weekly at no charge to families in need.

South Coast Plaza

to raise spirits at fest

South Coast Plaza will play host to the 20th annual Food, Wine and

Microbrew Fest from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 7. The event, in the Crate

& Barrel wing, will include food and beverages from more than 60

restaurants, wineries and breweries and jazz music by the York

Quartet. Tickets are $45 until 4 p.m. Oct. 4 and $55 thereafter.
