Golden West club wins polo classic

The Golden West water polo club women’s team tuned up for the
upcoming national championships by winning the TruWest Wahine Classic
at Los Alamitos.
Golden West’s impressive tournament run resulted in five lopsided
victories, outscoring its five opponents 59-20.
Among the team’s victims were Long Beach Viking (14-3), Chino
Hills Area Water Polo (10-4), San Diego Shores (13-6), Santa Barbara
Water Polo Foundation (12-3) and SoCal (10-4).
The team next travels to Atherton, Calif., for the United States
Water Polo 20/Under National Championships. After the Atherton event,
Golden West will compete at the National Junior Olympics from July 28
to Aug. 1 at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The final team standings at the TruWest Wahine Classic: 1. Golden
West; 2. SoCal; 3. Chino Hills Area Water Polo; 4. Santa Barbara
Water Polo Foundation; 5. Commerce; 6. San Diego Shores; 7. Long
Beach Viking; 8. Los Angeles Water Polo.
