City money still available to buyers

Costa Mesa’s Redevelopment Agency announced that funds remain for

the agency’s Home Buyer Assistance Program. The program offers

down-payment help of up to $40,000 in the form of a deferred second

mortgage to households earning no more than 120% of the Orange County

median.

The home buyer must provide at least a 3% down payment, have

sufficient income and be creditworthy to qualify for a first mortgage

with a private lender. Purchase-price limits have recently been

increased to the area median of $515,000.

If you have not had ownership interest in residential real estate

within the last three years, you may be eligible. Applicants are

assisted on a first-come, first-served basis, and funds are limited.

For more information, call (714) 754-4892.

O.C. Market Place to sponsor concerts

The Orange County Market Place will be the primary sponsor of the

Pacific Amphitheatre Summer Concert Series during the fair this year.

A $100,000 sponsorship, the first for the concert series, means

the Market Place will be the presenting sponsor for all 21 shows. The

series will feature nightly performances during the Orange County

Fair, which runs from July 9 to Aug. 1, excluding Mondays. For more

information, visit https://www.ocfair.com.

Big item pick-up service available

The Costa Mesa Sanitary District’s 2004 Large Item Collection

Program will run until Aug. 30. Single-family residents of Costa Mesa

and Santa Ana Heights using curbside trash collection -- not

Dumpsters -- may participate in the program.

These residents have the opportunity to dispose of items like

water heaters, washers and dryers, refrigerators, carpeting and

furniture. All will be collected, recycled and disposed of at no

additional cost.

A notice will be hung on residents’ doors two weeks before the

collection date for their neighborhood.

The district is encouraging residents to donate usable items to

charitable organizations before discarding them. A list of groups

accepting donations is available by calling (714) 754-5030.
