Yankees get their revenge

The Yankees defeated the Marlins on consecutive days to claim the

Newport Harbor Baseball Association Mustang division (ages 9-10)

championship.

A 6-2 victory Monday clinched the title.

The Yankees (18-5-1) went 5-1 in the double-elimination playoffs,

their only loss coming to the Marlins. They Yankees were led by

pitchers Tyler Kiehnle, Blake Bell, Christopher Sheppard and Nick

Seargent.

Jake Stowell, Landon Gyulay, Kiehnle, Bell and Seargent

spearheaded the offense while the defense was anchored by James

Jarvis, Cameron Cuevas, Seth Altmeyer and Charlie Gels.

The Marlins were led by Chase Kapana, Kory Cablay, Sam Kwock,

Taylor Parks and Max Miesenheimer.

In the Costa Mesa American Little League Farm division

championship game:

* Angels 16, Yankees 14: Trevor Cohen, Steven Kipp and Joseph

Gomez each collected three hits to help power the Angels to the

victory June 10.

Cohen, playing catcher, and Gomez, positioned at first base, each

added solid defense along with outfielder Marc Perdue, who held

runners with two strong throws.

Kipp made key plays at shortstop while Griffin Barlow, Shane

Crabbe, Ronnie Hernanadez, Ileisha Johnson, Thiago Millones, Cody

Perez and Justin Velasquez all added hits.
