Batistelli delivers for South in 6-2 loss to North
Victoria Batistelli had the only RBI for the South at Monday’s
12th annual Soroptimist International North/South All-Star Softball
Game at Cal State Fullerton.
The Huntington Beach High senior scored Dayna Berry of Mission
Viejo in the top of the sixth to complete the game’s scoring in a 6-2
North victory.
Batistelli, who played catcher, was joined on the South squad by
fellow Huntington Beach senior Holly Jackson.
Locals preps place at state track and field meet
Tori Pena of Edison High and Eki Faagai of Huntington Beach High
each earned a Top 10 finish in their respective events at the 2004
CIF State Track and Field Championships.
The two-day event was held at Hughes Stadium in Sacramento.
Pena cleared 11-feet 5 3/4 in the pole vault, which gave her a
seventh-place finish.
Faagai, meanwhile, threw a 178-02 in the discus, which gave him an
eighth-place finish.
Basketball camp instruction held at Marina
Marina High will host a basketball camp for local youngsters
beginning June 21 at the school’s gymnasium.
The camp, which will run through July 15, is open to all students
grades three through eight in the 2004-05 school year.
Instruction will take place between 8:30 and 10 a.m., Monday
through Thursday.

Edison High to host wrestling camp
The Edison wrestling program welcomes incoming freshman for the
2004-05 school year to attend its wrestling camp beginning June 21.
The technique camp will held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday and
Wednesday evenings.
The camp will run through July 30.
Edison is coming off a Sunset league wrestling championship and
second-place CIF finish and returns 10 starters from this year’s
team.

Football camp for local youth to be held
Nike/West Football Camp is conducting its annual Fundamental
Football Camp at Edison High School July 19 to 22.
The cost per camper is $175 and includes a Nike dri-fit shirt.
The camp is staffed by former NFL players at each position and
both Pop Warner Football and Jr. All-American Football players are
encouraged to register.
