Six Sea Kings All-PCL

Senior catcher Sarah Stern, as well as freshman pitchers Michelle

Tolfa and Holly Van Hiel, have been named first-team All-Pacific

Coast League by the circuit’s softball coaches.

Senior Jackie Manning, junior Heather Lohrman and freshman Allie

Duernberger represent the Sea Kings on the second team.

The six standouts helped lead the Sea Kings to their first CIF

Southern Section playoff victory, a 5-2 Division IV wild-card win

over Mary Star of the Sea on May 19.

Stern, a team captain, led the squad with 17 RBIs. She batted .288

with a team-leading eight doubles.

Tolfa, who no-hit Connelly with 13 strikeouts April 24, had a 1.93

ERA in 91 innings. She recorded 92 strikeouts and earned a 7-5 record

with one save. She was also second on the team with a .311 batting

average and knocked in 15 runs.

Van Hiel tossed three no-hitters and compiled a 1.11 ERA in 69

innings. She recorded 87 strikeouts and finished with a 9-3 record

with one save. At the plate, Van Hiel batted .297 with 13 RBIs.

Manning, a shortstop and team captain, sparkled defensively.

Lohrman, an outfielder, led the team with a .342 batting average,

including a team-high three triples.

Duernberger, who played second base, was second on the team with

16 RBIs and hit .308.

CdM finished 17-9, 6-5 in the PCL. The Sea Kings defeated Calvary

Chapel, 1-0, in 11 innings, then beat University, 3-1, to set up a

third-place playoff against Calvary. CdM defeated the Eagles, 7-6, in

11 innings to move on to the playoffs.

Tesoro senior Dani Manko was the league’s Most Valuable Player.

UCI’s Wagner honored

* BASEBALL: UC Irvine sophomore catcher Mark Wagner, who went 3

for 8 with two RBIs in the Anteaters’ two baseball losses Friday and

Saturday at the NCAA regional in South Bend, Ind., was named to the

All-Regional team.

Sabot sailors shine

* SAILING: The Balboa Bay fleet spring races were hosted by the

Lido Isle Yacht Club Sunday.

Perry Emsiek from the Balboa Yacht Club was first in the sabot A

event, while Addison MacLaren (LIYC) was victorious in sabot B.

Top honors in sabot C-1 went the C.J. Lewis (BYC), while Morgan

McVey (LIYC) and Brooke Donahue (LIYC) tied for first in the sabot

C-2 event.

Cooper Scott from the Newport Harbor Yacht Club was second in the

sabot A race.
