The latest custom-made, couture clothing
GREER WYLDER
At Ansari Fabrix, Nasrin Ansari is a local designer who buys the same
couture fabrics that Christian Lacroix, Christian Dior, Valentino and
Emanuel Ungaro use in their collections. Monday through Wednesday,
all designer fabrics will be reduced 40% to 75%.
The incredible selection includes hand-painted silk chiffons,
beaded French laces, printed jerseys and the latest of Chanel
boucles.
“We have the latest evening, as well as casual apparel fabrics
used in designer runway shows,” Ansari said.
She designs custom evening, daytime and bridal apparel. Attention
to detail is her specialty. Ansari uses three to four layers of silk
chiffon for lining and specializes in beading, embroidery and
applique work. Regular clients want specialty apparel they can’t find
anywhere else. Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to
5 p.m. Saturday or by appointment Sunday. 3363 Via Lido in Newport

Berry nice patterns in The Closet
Fashions coming out of The Closet exude Southern California casual
couture looks for men and women. It’s the place to find the latest
styles from up-and-coming designers, as well as popular lines and
exclusive collections. Featured brands include Volcom, Seven, James
Perse, Ella Moss, Citizens of Humanity, Diesel, Stussy, Modern
Amusement and Paper Denim & Cloth, among others. Exclusive lines such
as Nike Classic and Adidas Heritage Collection are available. It also
has specialty fashions for children. Located by the Iris Fountain, at
Fashion Island in Newport Beach. Burberry has select items throughout
the boutique reduced 30% to 40%. Burberry has moved further away from
its signature check fabric. The red, camel, black and white check was
initially used as a lining in trench coats dating back to 1924, and
since then it’s been on everything from bikinis, shoes, strollers,
surfboards and men’s and women’s apparel and even check thongs. The
company has intense trademark rules to keep counterfeiters from
copying the Burberry print, yet similar patterns still saturate the
apparel industry. Some of its new collections have reinvented the
Burberry check in an array of colors or different patterns. Classic
solids are featured, too. This boutique features men’s and women’s
apparel and accessories. Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday; 10
a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. (714)
556-8110. www.burberry.com.
