Giants topple the Dodgers
The third time proved to be the charm for the Giants, who toppled the
Dodgers, 14-4, to move into a tie for second-place in the Ocean View
Little League Minor A Division standings.
The Dodgers won the two previous meetings between the teams this
year.
The Giants, who won their fourth consecutive game, were led on
offense by Grant VanDyke who went three for three with three runs
scored, Jake Rubino with a double, single and two RBI and Austin
Barlow, who belted a two-run home run -- his third homer of the
season.
Six other Giants had one hit each.
Rubino and Casey Hayes combined for 11 strikeouts and walked four.
In other games:
Giants 11, Cubs 5
The Giants continued their powerful hitting attack with five
doubles and one home run included in their 13-hit attack.
Grant Mayeaux hit his first home run of the season in the second
inning to give the Giants a 4-1 lead. He also doubled in the sixth
inning to keep a Giants rally alive and get his third RBI.
Austin Barlow, Casey Hayes, Brandon Stadler and Grant VanDyke each
also doubled.
Barlow struck out eight and Jake Rubino stuck out four for the
Giants.
Giants 24, Reds 4
The Giants recorded four home runs, one a grand slam, in rolling
to victory.
Brandon Stadler potent day at the plate included two home runs,
one a grand slam, and eight RBI.
Stadler leads the Giants this season with five home runs.
Austin Barlow hit his second home run of the season and drove in
five runs and Casey Hayes hit his first home run and drove in four
runs.
The Giants offense pounded out 22 hits. Travis Corey went three
for three and Grant Mayeaux, Aaron Drake and Ryan Salz each had two
hits.
Jake Rubino and Hayes limited the Reds to five hits.
Marlins 6, A’s 3
The first-place Marlins extended their winning streak to 13 and
their record to 15 and 3 by defeating the A’s.
The Marlin offense was led by Jack Rulon who went three for three
with a pair of RBI and Ryan Lewis received the game ball for his key,
two-run single early in the game.
Devin King also drove in a run.
In Minor B Division action:
Astros 14, A’s 12
The A’s took a 12-9 lead in the top of the sixth inning, but the
Astros battled back to score five runs in their final at-bat to pull
out the win.
Brandon Wells had two hits for the Astros.
Josh Said went two for two with three runs scored, David Feirstein
went two for three and James Shramek went two for three and scored a
run for the A’s.
At Seaview Little League:
Minor A Division
Dodgers 9, Royals 5
Mitchell Grant doubled three times and knocked in three runs to
pace the Dodgers.
Zach Bauer singled three times, Danny Oates had two hits and an
RBI and Troy Baljeu singled and collected two RBI for the Dodgers.
Lane Hepburn threw five solid innings and recorded the win.
Nolan Heyer doubled twice and singled, William Menke doubled and
singled with two RBI, Steven Malone had two hits and RBI and Colby
Griffith had two hits for the Royals.
Cubs 11, Marlins 9
Chase Leamer leads the Cubs to victory with a double, single and
four RBI and threw four innings to notch the pitching win.
Riley Mailman delivered a two-RBI double and singled, Wrede
Cockerill and J.D. Keef each doubled and singled, Matt Thiede had two
hits and Brennan Fitzmartin added two hit for the Marlins.
Angels 10, A’s 4
The Angels offense was led by Jacob Lesinski who had two hits,
Dylan Havlicheck with a two-RBI double and single and Dominic Granado
and Max Mayer, each of whom had two hits.
Cubs 7, Angels 3
Jack Koeller had a two-RBI double and single, Jacob Thiessen had
two hits and an RBI, Matt Thiede had two hits and Dillon Brown
recorded the win for the Cubs.
Dominic Granado and Jacob Lesinski each had two hits for the
Angels.
A’s 14, Dodgers 7
Kyle Curtis struck out eight in a five inning stint to record the
win for the A’s.
Curtis also had a big day at the plate with a double, single and
three RBI.
Marlins 12, Royals 3
Brendon Hartjoy delivered a triple, ground-rule-double and five
RBI to power the Marlins.
Scott Orel doubled and singled with three RBI, Wes Kobel had a
double and RBI single, Drake Kerr had two bunt singles and Michael
Buntich got the win.
