ON THE AGENDA
Here are some of the items the commission will discuss tonight.
ST. JOACHIM’S PARISH APPLICATION
The commission will consider applications by architect Steve
Nevills, representing property owner the Roman Catholic Bishop of
Orange, to build a two-story classroom building and a
gym/multi-purpose building and to allow seven temporary modular
buildings to be used during construction.
The parish, at 1964 Orange Ave., is looking to expand to upgrade
the facilities, not to increase the number of students at the school,
according to the staff report.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Staff members recommend approval, with certain conditions such as
classroom windows facing residential properties being limited in
number and being made of frosted or opaque material.
TOWNHOUSE PROJECT
The commission will consider an application from John Garrison,
representing property owner ABCO Realty, to build a 26-unit
residential townhouse project with exceptions to certain requirements
of the zoning code.
The project calls for the 18 existing residences at 2013 through
2029 Anaheim Ave. to be demolished and be replaced by 26 townhouses.
Some of the exceptions requested are for higher building and
chimney heights.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Garrison is expected to request a continuance because staff
members recommend denial of the project, said Associate Planner Mel
Lee.
HOME EXPANSION
Nicholas Holmes, representing property owner Tony Guy, will ask
the commission to approve a second-floor addition for a home at 365
Ralcam Place. Holmes is requesting an exception to a requirement for
driveway landscaping, since none is proposed for this project.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Staff members are recommending approval because the project meets
the intent of the residential design guidelines and they are
convinced the exception for the driveway landscaping is justified.
