Braves pull upset of Dodgers

The Dodgers, winner of the first half of play in Huntington Valley
Little League’s Majors Division, found the going a bit tougher in the
second half against the Braves.
Riding the efforts of a trio of pitchers, the Braves were able to
pull off a 7-5 upset.
Arturo Duarte, Franz Meyers and Taylor Nelson each took a spin on
the mound, and each had enough to withstand the Dodgers offense.
In other Majors Division action:
Diamondbacks 11 Angels 4
Scott Martin belted a towering home run to highlight the D-backs
victory.
Pirates 10 A’s 1
The pitching of Nick Mazzone and Zachary Michaels got support from
a strong offensive showing as the Pirates rolled past the A’s.
At Seaview Little League:
Minor A Division
Angels 15, Marlins 8
In a playoff game to determine the division’s first half champion,
Dominic Granado doubled and singled twice with four RBIs to power the
Angels.
Nick Boyd also had three hits, Eric Sickle singled and had two
RBIs and Max Mayer notched the pitching win.
Wes Kobel had an RBI single for the Marlins.
A’s 5, Marlins 4
Corey Schreiber stole home with two out in the sixth inning to
lift the A’s to victory.
Kyle Curtis pitched a complete game victory and had nine
strikeouts and gave up two walks.
Grant Murchison had two hits and a pair of RBIs for the A’s.
Corey Hammond had an RBI double and Andy Grunbaum singled twice
with two RBIs for the Marlins.
Royals 9, Cubs 6
Steven Malone smashed a three-run home run and added an RBI single
to lead the Royals offensively.
Wayne Van Bayel added to the offensive output with a two-run
double and single and Ryan Bleile and Colby Griffith each had two
hits.
Perry Clitheroe struck out 10, surrendered just one walk and
didn’t give up an earned run in recording the win.
Angels 9, Dodgers 2
Winning pitcher Jacob Lesinski teamed with relievers Mitch Clark
and Bryan Flory to no-hit the Dodgers.
Flory also had two hits and drove in a pair of runs and Clark
singled twice.
