Sea Kings qualify for national regatta
The Corona del Mar High sailing team finished second at the Baker
Trophy elimination fleet racing regatta April 25 to qualify for the
fleet racing national regatta, scheduled May 21-23 in Annapolis, Md.
The top three teams from the competition, hosted by the Stanford
sailing team at the Sequoia Yacht Club in Redwood City, Calif.
Pt. Loma and Marin Catholic, which finished first and third,
respectively, will also join Corona del Mar in competing for the
Baker Trophy. Newport Harbor finished fourth and did not advance.
Fleet racing involves the whole team racing together. Corona del
Mar and Newport Harbor have both qualified for the team racing (with
individual boats racing in relay fashion) national high school
regatta, Saturday and Sunday in New Orleans.
The CdM sailors who competed in Redwood City: Eric Aakhus, Camilla
Moshayedi, Parker O’Brien, Adrienne Patterson, Hadley Rokicki, Peter
Stemler, Peter Tucci and Nick Williams. The Sea Kings are coached by
Nathan Dunham.
