Council searching for
a new city attorney
Newport Beach City Council members plan to spend today
interviewing seven candidates for the city attorney position that Bob
Burnham will vacate this summer. The city advertised all over the
state and received a large response, Human Resources Director Diana
Axley said. This will be the first round of interviews.
Burnham, who has worked for the city for more than 24 years and
served as city attorney for 21 years, announced in August that he
planned to retire this year. He said Monday he kept his retirement
date flexible to help the city recruit his replacement, but expects
to leave in July or August.
