Breakers take tournament title

The HB Breakers won all three games they played at the four-team
Moreno Valley Invitational to emerge with the tournament
championship.
The Breakers, a 12-and-under Club baseball team, needed nine
innings to turn back host Moreno Valley, 4-3, in the tournament
final.
The host Yankees jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top-half of the
first inning, but the Breakers battled back to close the gap to 3-2
in the fourth inning.
A key hit during the rally came from J.B. Bryant, who delivered an
RBI double.
The Breakers tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a walk to
Kyle Ball, a single by Bryant and an RBI single by Sean Vogel,
sending the game into extra innings.
Three innings later, the Breakers got the win when Bryant walked,
Vogel singled and Josh Lesinski delivered the game-winning RBI.
Cody Morad, Bryant and Vogel -- the latter throwing four shutout
innings -- pitched for the Breakers.
Morad singled twice, Brandon Adams doubled and Tony Giovinetti
singled.
In their tournament opener, the Breakers defeated the Yard Dogs,
8-5.
Bryant had a two-run double, one of the team’s two players named
Kyle Ball (No. 8) had an RBI single, Lesinski an RBI double and Adams
and the other Kyle Ball (No. 5) also drove in runs.
In their second game, the Breakers beat the Lancers, 9-5.
The Breakers trailed, 3-2, but broke open the game by scoring
seven runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Giovinetti doubled home two runs, Vogel, Chris Lien, Kyle Ball
(No. 5) and Aaron Ochoa each had an RBI single and Sean Guite had an
RBI ground out in producing the seven-run inning.
In three tournament games, the Breakers had a .362 team batting
average and a .457 team on-base average.
