Four girls’ water polo players named All-CIF
Four Laguna Beach High girls’ water polo players earned All-CIF
Southern Section Division II honors, Coach Rick McKee said Wednesday.
Team selections were announced earlier this week.
Junior Kat Gordon was a first-team selection. Freshman Breanna
Duplisea was a second-team pick, and junior Alana Thomson and
freshman Jessica McKee each was named to the third team.
Duplisea and McKee were the only freshmen named All-CIF, Laguna
Coach Rick McKee said.
Jessica McKee, daughter of the head coach, led the Breakers in
scoring during the 2003-04 season. Duplisea was the team’s No. 2
scorer, and Gordon was No. 3.
“I’m very excited to have all these girls make All-CIF, although I
was disappointed that we didn’t place more,” Rick McKee said. “We
placed third as a team, in CIF, when it was all said and done.”
Before earning All-CIF Southern Section laurels, Gordon, Duplisea
and Jessica McKee each were named first-team All-Pacific Coast
League.
Thomson and junior Elizabeth Rooklidge each made the second team
and juniors Annie Nelson and Allison Wallis were named to the third
team.
Rolfing earns first-team all-league honors
Emily Rolfing, who roamed the midfield and also played at forward,
was named to the first-team on the All-Pacific Coast League girls’
soccer team, Coach Mike Thomas announced.
Teammate Annie Sukhov was named second-team all-league.
Rolfing also was named Laguna’s MVP and Sukhov one of two
defensive players of the year, at the team banquet.
