ON THE

AGENDA

Here are some of the items the commission will consider tonight.

MULTI PURPOSE TRAIL

The commission will consider if there would be any negative

effects from a proposed multipurpose trail in Fairview Park. The

council approved the concept for the trail when it adopted the

Fairview Park Master Plan. The trail would be used by pedestrians,

bicyclists and school teams.

Biologists hired by the city found that the operation of the trail

would not cause any significant effects to the environment. But they

recommend that short-term construction activities be mitigated so the

vernal pools in the area are protected.

WHAT TO EXPECT

No harm, no foul. Since the trail will not create a lot of hazards

to the environment, the commission will probably approve the

environmental study and corresponding mitigation program for the

project.

TATTOO ADDITION

The commission will consider a request from Ericka Smiceaski,

representing property owner Tri-Harmony Properties, to establish a

tattoo service within an existing jewelry store. The store, at 2790

Harbor Blvd., already provides body piercing.

WHAT TO EXPECT

They’ll likely be told to tattoo away since the site is bounded on

all sides by commercially zoned properties and is well separated from

any residentially zoned properties.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE APPLICATION

The commission will consider a request from Kristine Proctor,

representing property owner KWI at 1901 Newport Blvd., to allow

Turnip Rose -- a banquet-catering facility used for conventions,

seminars and weddings -- to serve alcoholic beverages until 1 a.m.

seven days a week within 200 feet of a residential zone.

Turnip Rose currently operates until midnight.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Last call will probably be an hour later since staff members don’t

think the extended hours will have a negative effect on the other

uses on-site nor create additional parking demand on the residential

neighborhood on Bernard Street.
