Running Rebels rally in win over Seahawks
The South Huntington Beach Running Rebels capped off a regular season
division championship by rallying past the East Huntington Beach
Seahawks, 21-15, in girls’ National Junior Basketball action.
The Running Rebels trailed, 10-0, but stormed back to outscore the
Seahawks, 21-5, over the final three quarters.
South Huntington Beach had trailed, 15-9, heading into the final
period but used a 12-0 run to complete the comeback.
Liana Hersch led the Running Rebels on defense with six steals.
Other top defensive performances were turned in by Ambar Barrera,
Danielle Warde, Erica Hersh and Allison Andor.
Danielle Miller led the Running Rebles with nine rebounds and
Christina Marquetts had six rebounds.
Miller also led South Huntington Beach in scoring with nine points
and Ward added seven points.
The Running Rebels advance to compete at next week’s National
Junior Basketball championship series beginning next week.

Seventh-Grade All-Net Division
Timberwolves 54, No Namers 50
The La Mirada Timberwolves trailed North Huntington Beach
throughout the game but took advantage of several turnovers by the No
Namers in the final minute to pull out the victory.
Steven Murray led North Huntington Beach with 13 points, followed
by Neil Negrette with 11.
Jeff Molino contributed nine points, Cody Grant had eight points
and Trevor West added six points.

Division 1
Team 3 40, Team 7 26
The entire Team 3 lineup got into the scoring act in defeating
Team 7.
Chris Czerniachowski’s 11 points led the way, followed by Reed
Thomas with nine points.
The win on the final day of the regular season gave Team 3 a 6-4
record, good for third-place in the division.
