Little League season will open on Feb. 28

Laguna Beach Little League will launch its 2004 season on Feb. 28

with Opening Day ceremonies.

The festivities will be held at Riddle Field and will begin with

an All-American Pancake Breakfast from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children and all players

dressed in their team uniform eat at no cost.

The Opening Day Ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. with an All-Team

Parade around Riddle Field. Teams then will gather on the field for a

league photo.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars color guard will perform the flag

presentation, guest vocalist Suzy Elghanayan will sing the National

Anthem and music will be provided by the Laguna Beach High band.

Special guest speakers will include former Los Angeles Dodger Mark

Cresse and new Laguna Beach High baseball coach Tom Faris.

A T-ball exhibition will precede the first Majors Division game of

the season.

The community is invited to share the Opening Day festivities.

Standout to try out for Premier League

Laguna Beach High’s Nick Kohlschrieber will try out later this

week for a spot on one of the professional soccer teams in the

English Premier League, Laguna Beach High coach Andy Thomas said.

Kohlschrieber was an all-Pacific Coast League and MVP for the

Breakers last year, but was ineligible to play in the 2003-04 season.

“We wish him all the best,” said Thomas, who made the announcement

on Tuesday.

Thomas said that Kohlschrieber is the second Laguna Beach High

soccer player to try out for the professional ranks.

Chris Whtiworth went to FC Zurich in 1998, Thomas said.
