Newport library gets $435,000 donation
The Newport Beach Public Library Foundation has received a
$435,500 donation from the estate of Acton B. Taylor. The gift is the
largest in the history of the foundation, which is a nonprofit group
that serves the local public library system.
The donor, Taylor, was a Corona del Mar resident who died last
year at age 102. The library foundation was one of 10 charities that
received gifts from his estate.
The foundation will put $400,000 into an endowment fund for the
library. The remaining $35,000 will be spent on collections and
educational programs at the library.
