UCI tech lab helps people get in the game
The Game Culture and Technology Lab at UC Irvine will collaborate
with the San Diego Supercomputer Center and Butterfly.net to unveil
the first grid-based game server that will help an unlimited number
of users to interact online for games, research or teaching.
A “Game Grid Innovation Workshop” will introduce participants to
the grid’s capabilities and include demonstrations and brainstorming
sessions for research opportunities.
Project proposals will be considered beginning in January,
enabling researchers and independent game developers to experiment
with the technology before it goes public next year.
The workshop, to be held today from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the
Beall Center for Art and Technology at the UCI campus, is free and
will provide lunch and refreshments. Respond to [email protected].
