Teens arrested in Newport burglaries
Westminster police on Monday arrested two Huntington Beach teens
said to have been involved in several vehicle burglaries in east
Newport Beach, officials said.
Steven Michael Henley, 19, and Christina Downing, 18, were
arrested as they were trying to cash forged checks in Westminster,
Newport Beach police Sgt. Steve Shulman said.
Investigators searched one of the suspect’s homes and recovered
items such as blank checks, credit cards, golf equipment, personal
computers and cameras, he said. Police have identified a few victims
but are in the process of locating others, Shulman said.
Detectives believe that the suspects stole mostly between midnight
and 3 a.m., he said.
Anyone who believes he or she may have been a victim of such a
theft during the last five months is asked to call Newport Beach
police Det. Kent Eischen at (949) 644-3790.
