Time for toys for kids in need

The annual “Spark of Love/Toys for Tots” holiday toy drive has begun.

Firefighters are collecting new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment

for children in need.

Items can be brought to any of the city’s four fire stations or

any station in Southern California through Dec. 25.

Laguna’s stations are at Third Street and Forest Avenue; Agate and

Glenneyre streets; Alta Laguna Boulevard and Tree Top Lane; and 2nd

Avenue and Virginia Way.

If you know of a child or family in need, contact St. Vincent de

Woman’s Club annual holiday luncheon set

The Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach will hold its annual Holiday

Luncheon at the Clubhouse today.

Lunch is $18 at the door if space allows.

The Clubhouse will be open at 11 a.m. for the Tarnished Treasure

Sale. Lunch will be served at noon, and the program will begin at

12:45 p.m.

Benevolence Fund to hold auction

The Sawdust Artists’ Benevolence Fund will hold its twice-yearly

art auction at noon Sunday at the Sawdust Festival Winter Fantasy.

The fund is designed to help Laguna Beach artists, many of whom

are under or uninsured, in times of severe need.

Sawdust Art Festival Winter Fantasy is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Meeting to focus on sewer laterals

Laguna Beach city officials will hold a meeting to discuss

development of the city’s proposed private sewer lateral program.

The meeting will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the City

Documentary, talk on Iraq War

On Sunday, the 52nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor,

Internet agency MoveOn will present the documentary “Uncovered: The

Whole Truth About the Iraq War.”

The program will begin with the documentary at 4 p.m. at the

Laguna Beach Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 429 Cypress Drive.

After the film will be a discussion and a nationwide conference call

with the film director and MoveOn personnel.

The program is an outside production and is not sponsored by the

UUFLB.

Interfaith Evensong will be Sunday

St. Mary’s Church will host the second annual Interfaith Evensong

at 5 p.m. Dec. 7 at the church, 428 Park Ave.

Annual Wreath Auction at Woody’s

Woody’s at the Beach will hold its sixth annual Wreath Auction to

benefit Laguna Shanti AIDS Resource Center.

The event has raised more than $60,000 over the past five years.

This year, local businesses and individuals have donated specially

created wreaths for the auction.

Alliance Francaise meeting set

The Alliance Francaise of Orange County will hold its social event

at 6 p.m. Dec. 13.

There will be music and dancing to celebrate the holiday season.

Alliance members and $10 for nonmembers.

College of Art, Design announces trustees

Laguna College of Art and Design has announced the appointment of

new trustees to its board of directors.

Catharine Cooper, Leon Lyon, Machiko Naganuma, Christine Rhoades

and Cyndee Whitney have been appointed to the board for the 2004

fiscal year.

There are 19 trustees on the board, and each July 1, new officers

are appointed to one-year terms as chair, vice chair, secretary and

treasurer.

LOCA nears end of membership drive

Laguna Outreach Community Arts is wrapping up its annual

membership drive this week.

Local merchants have donated more than $1,000 in prizes to be

awarded to new and renewing members at a drawing on Dec. 10.
