The Laguna Beach High School Dance Company will present “In Concert
2003” on Dec. 11, 12 and 13. All performances begin at 8 p.m. This
show marks the 15th anniversary for the dance program at the high
school as well as the grand opening of the dance studio and the
re-opening of the Artist’s Theater.
Choreographers Audrey Wilson, Mychelle Perez and Teresa Avina have
prepared swing, ballet and high-energy jazz pieces for the
anniversary show.
Todd Kubo will present two new pieces to premiere in this concert:
“Thaiography,” a jazz and tai chi movement piece and “Watercolors,”
an 11 minute ballet number, his longest since the fifth anniversary
show.
“We are so grateful to have been able to introduce so many of
styles of dance over the years and to give these kids a stage to
perform on,” he said. “The longevity of teaching life fitness and
wellness is real.”
Costume designer Jan Munoz agrees with Todd.
“All these kids leave with a sense of personal maintenance and
healthy lifestyle,” she said. “I just hope this program keeps going
forever.”
Tickets are $8 for students, $10 general admission and $15 for
reserved seating. Tickets for the opening night gala on Dec. 11 are
$65 and include dinner, a tour of the dance studio and reserved
seating.
