Letts’ hat trick leads CdM team to victory
Ryan Letts tallied a hat trick to lead the Corona del Mar roller
hockey team to a 5-0 victory over Santa Margarita on Nov. 20 at the
Worldwide Hockey Center in Irvine.
CdM’s defense was led by goalkeeper Eric Mirowitz, who stopped all
20 Santa Margarita shots. Letts scored the first goal of the game on
a power play in the first period when he steered Jared Mortenson’s
centering pass past the Santa Margarita goalkeeper. Letts struck
again with 10 minutes, 13 seconds remaining in the third period wen
he flipped a rebound from Mike Bolton’s slap shot over the Santa
Margarita netminder for the score. Letts’ final goal came late in the
period when he intercepted a pass and fired a slap shot into the
corner of the net.
Jeff Bye and captain Matt Benvenuti also scored goals for CdM,
which fired 40 shots.
Benvenuti assisted on Bye’s first-period goal and Bolton set up
Benvenuti’s third-period goal.
