Free summer trolleys are essential
Roger Carter
The merchants, hotel owners and local residents must be aghast after
reading comments by City Council members Wayne Baglin and Elizabeth
Pearson in regard to the free summer trolleys.
The business people and locals of Laguna know that before the free
trolleys, summer attendance and parking meter revenue was taking a
free-fall. People don’t flock to Laguna Beach like they used to.
How dumb are Baglin and Pearson? Do they understand the meaning of
a concept? Do they realize the free trolleys were an original idea
that attracted even more people to Laguna the second year and in the
future could see record breaking ridership.
Pearson and Baglin apparently would like our summers to die --
along with our hotels and merchants and for Laguna Beach to become a
sterile, dead destination resort. Free trolleys have already changed
that. Let’s not lose a really good idea because of two provincial
City Council members.
