INSIDE CITY HALL
Here are some of the items the commission considered at its Monday
meeting.
MOBILE HOME ORDINANCE
The commission reconsidered an ordinance that replaces and expands
the city’s procedures for mobile home park conversions. The
commission will discuss whether a town hall meeting is necessary
before it votes. The City Council wants new rules to give it more
authority over the conversion process and to delineate the procedure
for mobile home park closures.
WHAT HAPPENED
The commission postponed a decision on the ordinance until Jan.
12. It also decided not to host a town hall meeting or set up an ad
hoc committee or working group to contribute feedback to the
ordinance.
The latest draft of the ordinance will be ready for public review
around the first week of December.
WHAT WAS SAID
“We felt we would have adequate opportunity [for feedback] through
the public hearing and study session process,” said Chairman Bruce
Garlich. “All the principals have had the opportunity to see the
earlier draft and make comments. And they will have between now and
middle of January to do that [for the latest version].”
HOUSING SUBDIVISION
The commission considered a request from Mike McDaniel and Joseph
Bower for an exception to city requirements for minimum lot width and
area so they can subdivide a lot into two parcels. The lot is in the
3000 block of Fillmore Way.
The width exception is necessary because the two parcels are 49
feet narrower than the 100-foot minimum lot width required by city
code. The area exception is required because city code requires a
minimum 12,000-square-foot lot. The first parcel is proposed at 5,345
square feet and the second is proposed at 6,084 square feet.
WHAT HAPPENED
The commission approved the request.
PERMIT APPLICATION
Werdin-Creekside L.L.C. requested the Planning Commission’s
approval to subdivide three parcels at Creekside Commercial
Development into six. The property is near the southeast corner of
Bristol Street and Randolph Avenue. It is requesting a permit for
off-site parking and for shared driveway access to a public street.
WHAT HAPPENED
The commission approved the permit.
