Cool second half dooms Vanguard

After hitting half of its 10 first-half three-point attempts and 14
of its 15 free throws to forge a 39-39 intermission tie, visiting
Vanguard University cooled off in the second half of a 78-73
nonconference men’s basketball loss at Pomona-Pitzer Friday night.
The Lions were just 3 of 17 from beyond the arc (17.6%) and 8 of
27 from the field (29.6%) after halftime, while the hosts netted 13
of 29 field-goal tries after the break, including 5 of 9 from
three-point range.
Brian Kim paced Vanguard with 15 points, while Horace Wormely
(13), and Kevin Dalafu (12) also scored in double figures for the
visitors, who fell to 3-2.
Mark Erler led four hosts in double figures with 14 points.
