Art Walk also a mentoring program
The owners of 16 Laguna Beach galleries, volunteering as mentors
to Laguna College students, will showcase original works by seniors
of Laguna College of Art & Design during the Art Walk on Dec. 4.
The students will be present at each gallery exhibiting their
work, which are available for sale. A percentage of the sales will
benefit the Student Scholarship Fund of Laguna College of Art &
Design, the student artists and the First Thursdays Art Walk.
The program pairs senior students in the fine arts professional
studies class with one of the First Thursdays’ professional art
galleries.
The December Art Walk after party will be held at Laguna College
of Art and Design at 2222 Laguna Canyon Road from 9 to 11 p.m.

Benefit set for Multiple Sclerosis
Laguna Beach-based Backstage Boutique is helping support the
“Frostbite Soiree,” a charitable event to benefit the National
Multiple Sclerosis Society. The avant-garde event will be on Dec. 4
at [seven-degrees].
The event will include appetizers from several distinguished
Orange County restaurants, a fashion show featuring designer styles
from the boutique, live music performances, a DJ and a rooftop vodka
bar and lounge area designed to complement the winter-event theme.
In addition, there will be celebrity appearances and supporting
companies showcasing select products and services, such as high-end
car dealer Newport Autosport and audio/visual company Bang & Olufson.

Nine Laguna writers published
Members of the Irvine Valley College Emeritus Creative Writing
class will host a reading and book signing on Dec. 4 in celebration
of its newly published anthology that includes the work of nine
Laguna Beach residents.
The event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Legion Hall, on the
corner of Legion and Catalina streets, where the class meets
regularly on Thursday afternoons.
Laguna Beach residents Bette Anderson, Elaine Barnard, Nancy Bake,
Sten Gould, M. Donnaleen Howitt, P.J. Lybarger, V.V. Mason, Thomas J.
Ringers and Covey Wills are represented in the anthology, titled
“Sage: A Journal of Poetry and Prose.”
Copies of the anthology will be available for sale at the reading,

Laguna Canyon artists open studios
Laguna Canyon Artists will host their annual Open Studio event
from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7.
Thirty artists’ studios are open to the public for two days only.
The event offers the chance to see working studios and works in
progress, find unique gifts or add to one’s collection.
Painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry, glass and more are
included. There will be refreshments and free parking. Watch for the
“Art Studios Open” signs.

Fundraiser rewards nonprofits
The proceeds from the seventh annual Pet Parade and Chili Cook-off
will be presented to the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter, Friends of the
Sea Lion and the Blue Bell Foundation for Cats today at 9 a.m. at the
offices of the Laguna Board of Realtors at 939 Glenneyre St.
