Dolphins win youth football title

The Huntington Beach Dolphins defeated the Newport-Mesa Seahawks

Saturday, 34-12, in Jr. All-American Football Pee Wee Division play.

The victory allowed the Pee Wee Dolphins to lay claim to the 2003

NFL Central Division championship and gave the squad a first-round by

in the upcoming playoffs.

Their first postseason game will be played Nov. 8.

Against Newport Mesa, Huntington was led by Riley Woods, Tim

Atencio and Kyle Walker on offense.

The Dolphins’ defense was anchored by Robert Quick, Chris Fiscus,

Chad Smith and Eric Morejon.

Also contributing to the season success of the Dolphins were Jacob

Former, Ronald Hix, Brice Ibbotson, Jonathan Maginot, Ian North,

Toughy Pawar, Jarred Bennett, Cory Ramsey, Kristopher Bonham, Cory

Coppenhaver, Zack Couey, Johnny Dawson, Jake DeShon, Vincent

DelPrado, Conrad Glassburner, Drew Jordan, Henry Morse, Adam Navarro,

Sean Stephenson, Zachary Swan, AJ Trentini and Thomas Weinell.

The Pee Wee Dolphins are under the direction of head coach Anthony

McLawyer and assistant coaches Steve Rhoads, Dan Goodwin, Mike

Henigan and Rich Couey.

Huntington Beach’s defense recorded its second straight shutout

victory and the Charger offense saw four different players score in

routing the Panthers.

Trevor Borkowski scored on a 30-yard run, and Elijah Herrera and

Brenton Visnoski each scored on 40-yard runs.

Also, Cassie Strickland threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to J.T.

Doran.

The Charger defense also got into the scoring act with a safety.

The stop unit was powered by Trenton Aschoff, Adam Petrarca,

Darren Romo, Wyatt Christensen, Connor Mase and Cade Hernandez.
