Technical problem slows JWA traffic
A technical problem at a San Diego air traffic control center
slowed down operations at John Wayne Airport by more than 50% on
Sunday.
The problem in San Diego was significant enough that JWA didn’t
open until 10:56 a.m., said Justin McCusker, JWA public inquiry
officer. When it opened, air traffic was limited to two departures
and three to four arrivals per hour, he said.
The airport normally handles 150 flights per day, McCusker said,
beginning at 6:45 a.m.It closes at 11 p.m.
McCusker would not specify the nature of the technical problem.
Passengers should contact their airlines today to verify the
departures of their flights, McCusker said.
