Mustangs put Lions to sleep

The Costa Mesa Jr. Pee Wee Black Mustangs remained undefeated with a
34-0 win over the La Habra Silver Lions in Pop Warner Football action
last Saturday.
Parker Norton scored three touchdowns and Mark Contreras added two
more for the Mustangs. Norton and Contreras combined for more than
250 yards of offense.
Grant McKee and Graeme Fraser each gained more than 80 yards on
three carries.
McKee and Tyler Henry, who filled in for the injured Buzzy
Yokoyama at fullback, made some crushing blocks and added some strong
defense. McKee and Henry were named Co-Players of the Game.
Dillon Miller, Zack Porteous, Spencer Dalby, Tori Morgan, Andrew
Duhoux and McKee paved the way for Mustang running backs by opening
large holes.
Dakota Gilbert led the defense with eight tackles and two
interceptions while Jack Jeffries, Brandon Kelly and Richie Lowery
(interception) contributed to the shutout.

Costa Mesa improved to 4-1 in league play with the win.
Quarterback Todd Davis rushed for two touchdowns and kicked three
of four extra-point attempts for the Mustangs.
Chris Gute scored the other two touchdowns, one on a 55-yard
reverse. Devin Anthony, Blake Davey, Daniel Derieg, Tyler French,
Cameron Hobbs, Derik Rico, Jesse Dawson and Ben Ward helped contain
the Hawaiian offense.
Jacob Folsom and Frank DeNoewer added early touchdowns that were
called back due to penalties.
