Workshop for special education set for today
The Special Education Community Advisory Committee for the school
district will host a free individual education program workshop
today. Costa Mesa Mayor Gary Monahan is the chair of the committee.
The workshop will help educate parents on the legal rights for
protecting children who have different abilities, as well as the
appropriate steps necessary to ensure a child receives the services,
support and placement necessary to benefit from their education. By
defining terms, explaining timelines and walking parents through the
special education process, the workshop will help parents be equal
members of their child’s educational team.
An experienced trainer from the Team Advocates for Special Kids
will lead the workshop.
Because of limited space, attendees must register in advance. The
workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the school
district offices, at 2985 Bear St. To register, call (714) 533-8275.
For more information, call Monahan at (714) 754-5192 or e-mail him at
Open house for planners

Monday. The community is invited to visit the open house to learn
about new resources and meet the city’s planning commissioners and
Planning staff.
The open house will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday. For
more information, call Kimberly Brandt at (714) 754-5604.
