Not all in Newport- Mesa are canceling
I am writing in reference to a letter from Joann Kenton in the
Oct. 14 edition, regarding her letter about the liberal media.
Kenton suggested we are all threatening to cancel the Los Angeles
Times Orange County edition. I do not know where you got that
impression from. I am not canceling. I am perfectly happy with the
Los Angeles Times.

Rock Harbor deserved more mention in 103
On the DP 103 Spotlight on Religion, you really missed one. You
have one of the fastest growing churches in Costa Mesa called Rock
Harbor, and Mike Erre is the pastor, and he was left off the list. I
don’t know how some of the names got on and I don’t even know whom
Don Oliver is. Missing Erre and Rock Harbor was a glaring mistake.
Its one of the fastest growing churches in America, and it’s a couple
of blocks from your office.

Portions of paper need serious re-working
I am absolutely appalled at the fact that the paper now has
spotlights on retail and restaurants and things like that. Are these
paid advertisements?
Just one other comment I might want to make is that anybody who
has the gall to put in a newspaper One-Hit Wonders (Made the top 10
then dropped from sight) and list a young lady by the name of Amanda
Arthur should be taken out in the street and tarred and feathered.
That is absolutely the most appalling thing I’ve ever seen come out
of this newspaper.

Key judicial figure omitted from list
In response to whether the Daily Pilot “missed anyone” in the DP
103 selection, I would mention Nancy Clark of Newport Beach. She was
a key figure in the Orange County judicial and public safety arena.
For more than 30 years she has been at the forefront of “alternative
sentencing” -- which could be described as keeping “good people who
have done bad things” out of jail when appropriate. It also entails
helping drug addicts and alcoholics who have legal problems become
productive members of the community.
She was with the public defender’s office for 15 years and then
started her own business, which provides services that offer the
option of sober living homes for recovering drug and alcohol addicts.
