We should protest against the unions

Could somebody please clarify the following for me? Isn’t the

United Food and Commercial Workers Union one of those very unions

that has supported Gov. Gray Davis and his assembly throughout our

state’s workers compensation, healthcare and domestic partner

benefits debacle?

Policies that, among other things, have not only made it difficult

to be an employer in this state but have seriously contributed to my

own health insurance premiums going up close to 200%?

If so, doesn’t anyone else see the irony here? Shouldn’t we be

protesting the union’s actions, as opposed to honoring their picket

lines?

Good news about

Costa Mesa skate park

Finally, some good news about skate parks in Costa Mesa! Returning

home from a brief vacation, I was greeted by Deirdre Newman’s article

titled, “One Skate Park Approved, More on the Table,” which outlined

plans for not only one permanent skate park at TeWinkle Park, but

others scattered throughout the city, as well. This is great news for

children of all ages in this city who enjoy skating and have been

denied proper facilities for so long.

Kudos to those in the city staffers and government officials who

have finally gotten this project off the back burner. Thanks, also,

to Jim Gray and his fellow skaters for their leadership, tenacity and

patience. Let us now all hold our collective breath as we await the

ground-breaking.
