Sailors face Knights
The Newport Harbor High boys water polo team has a big challenge
tonight in its quest to repeat as Sea View League champion, as
Foothill takes on the Sailors at 7 p.m. at Corona del Mar High.
“We are pretty equal in a lot of ways, on paper,” Newport Coach
Jason Lynch said. “This is obviously a game that we are going to get
up for. You can’t get up for every single game, but this is one we
will be ready for.”
The Sailors, ranked No. 5 in CIF Southern Section Division I, will
be without senior Bryan Auer, who is recovering from an appendectomy
and will miss at least two weeks. Senior two-meter man Michael Bury
and sophomore driver Clay Jorth lead Newport, which also features
junior goalie Michael Robinson. The Knights are No. 2 in CIF Division
I.
