Getting spooky with the Halloween spirit
Newport Beach’s annual Halloween Window Painting Contest will take
place on Oct. 26 at two different Newport Beach shopping centers.
Children participating in the contest will decorate store windows
at either the Newport Coast Shopping Center at the corner of Newport
Coast Drive and San Joaquin Hills Road or at the Westcliff Plaza at
17th Street and Irvine Avenue.
The cost is $5 and pre-registration is required. For registration
forms and other information, visit the city’s Web site at
https://www.city.newport-beach.ca.us. Under “News/Events” select
“Public Information Office” then “City News.” For information by

Market Place honors
several local nonprofits
In honor of celebrating the start of its 35th year, the Orange
County Market Place gave $3,500 each to ten community organizations
Saturday. Those organizations are: the Costa Mesa Senior Center,
Costa Mesa Historical Society, the newly-planned Harbor area Boys and
Girls Club of Costa Mesa, Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce CM 900 Club,
Costa Mesa High School, Estancia High School, Vanguard University,
Orange Coast College and the newly-established Costa Mesa Community
Foundation, from which equal donations to the Costa Mesa Fire
Department and Costa Mesa Police Department will be made for their
community educational programming.
SCORE to have several
workshops this month
The Service Corps of Retired Executives is offering the first of
many business workshops on Tuesday in Costa Mesa. The workshop, on
creating business plans, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at
National University, 3390 Harbor Boulevard. To make a reservation,
