Couple in sex case pleads not guilty
A couple who worked at Newport Beach-based Pacific Care insurance
company pleaded not guilty on Friday to molesting several young girls
and videotaping them engaged in sexual acts.
Orange County Sheriff’s deputies raided the Rancho Santa Margarita
home of 32-year-old David Shouthy Hwang and his new wife, Sheila
Marie Sikat, 24, last month and found more than 100 homemade
videotapes of Hwang molesting the girls, officials said.
Hwang has been with the Newport Beach company for about four
years, and Sikat for about three years. Both have been placed on
administrative leave since their arrest.
Hwang has been charged with 21 counts of child molestation, and
his wife with four counts of child molestation and one count of
recording minors engaged in sex acts.
Hwang is being held in Orange County jail without bail, and
Sikat’s bail has been set at $500,000. They are due back in court in
Laguna Niguel on Oct. 29.
