Bananas get season off to a great start
The Bananas of Laguna Beach AYSO Division 4 have won three straight
matches following a season-opening tie.
The Bananas won their third-straight match by shutting out the
previously undefeated Exterminators, 3-0.
Keeper Quinn Harmon recorded the shutout while Sam Stinnett scored
two goals, one on a header off his own penalty kick that had
rebounded off the cross bar, and Sam Witte paced the defense.
The play of Fernando Melchor, Cesar Reyes, Matt Anderson, Shane
Korber and keeper Sean Pigden led the Exterminators.
The Bananas began their three-game win streak with a 4-2 win over
the Diablos.
Fullbacks Michael Hayes, Andrew Congleton, Michael Jones and Alex
Bakken, along with the mid-field play of Stinnett, Witte and Charlie
Jackson, helped secure the victory.
Eric Vasquez, Dylan Norris and Chris Barwick paced the Diablos.
Next for the Bananas was a 5-1 win against the injury-plagued
White Sharks.
Rahael Vickers scored a hat trick for the Bananas who held off a
determined White Sharks team led by Trevor Stanland, Pablo Campos,
Derek Knott and keeper Chris Hillemann.
The Bananas had begun their season with a 1-1 tie against the
Green Bananas. Rex Strombotne and Christian Albarran shared net
duties for the Green Bananas and Harmon and Michael Jones combined in
goal for the Bananas.

Laguna Beach 4, West Coast United 4
Miguel Jaimes scored on chip shot from the corner late in the
second half as Laguna Beach tied previously unbeaten West Coast
United.
Down 2-0, Laguna came back to tie the score on a pair of Marc
Hughes goals. Laguna again trailed, 3-2, but Paolo Noppenberger’s
perfectly-placed corner kick set up Brian Vail’s outstanding header
to knot the score at 3-3.
