Independent city editor adds duties
Huntington Beach Independent City Editor Danette Goulet has been
named city editor of one of the paper’s sister publications, the
Daily Pilot. She will remain city editor of the Independent, as well.
Goulet has been city editor of the Independent for two years.
Under her watch, the paper has won eight statewide journalism awards.
Among those awards was one for an environmental story Goulet wrote.
“Danette is an excellent journalist and will be great Pilot city
editor,” Pilot Editor Tony Dodero said. “I look forward to her
continued leadership of both of these papers.”
Goulet started at the Pilot in October 1999 and was its education
reporter for two years. Before that, she was a reporter at the Boca
Raton (Fla.) News, covering a number of beats and writing a weekly
column.
A native of Concord, Mass., Goulet graduated from Sacred Heart
University in Fairfield, Conn. with a degree in English and
communications.
As city editor, Goulet will be responsible for managing the
reporting staffs of both papers. She will continue to write a weekly
column for the Independent.
Goulet will report to Managing Editor S.J. Cahn and Dodero. She
will begin her new position on Monday.
