College night comes to Edison High
More than 50 college representatives will be available to
Huntington Beach Union High School District students at California
College Night at 7 p.m. tonight at Edison High School.
Representatives from the Service Academies and ROTC Scholarship
Program will be in attendance along with community college,
independent college, University of California and California State
University representatives.
College nights provide the basic facts about preferred high school
preparation for admission to college majors.
College representatives and specialists will be in the gym from 7
to 9 p.m., information about admission testing will be provided in
the cafeteria from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. and information about special
education services will be provided in the faculty cafeteria from 7
to 7:45 p.m.

Ambassador students sought
High school freshmen, sophomores and juniors living or attending
school in Huntington Beach are invited to apply for 2004 student
ambassador positions through the Sister City Assn.
Two groups of students, one that went to Japan this year and one
to New Zealand, will share their experiences at 7 p.m. on Oct. 21 at
the Huntington Beach Central Library. Both groups of students hosted
their student counterparts in Huntington Beach for two weeks in July.
All students interested in participating in the 2004 program are
encouraged to attend the free presentation.
Applications for student ambassadors are available at the high
schools and online at www.sistercity.org.
Pegasus teacher heads to Japan
Pegasus School’s technology teacher, Lynn Van Gorp, will depart
for Tokyo as a participant in the Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher
program on Saturday.
Van Gorp was selected from a pool of more than 2,500 applicants by
a panel of educators to earn the honor.
The program allows distinguished teachers in the United States to
travel to Japan for three weeks in an effort to promote greater
intercultural understanding.
