Sobriety check point to be set up Saturday
The Huntington Beach Police Department will conduct a sobriety and
driver’s license checkpoint from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Beach Boulevard
at Blaylock Avenue on Saturday.
The department’s traffic bureau said it hopes to catch intoxicated
drivers before they cause serious injuries or fatal collisions.
Officer raises money for Oakview resident
Huntington Beach Police Officer Art Preece solicited donations
last week for an Oakview resident whose car was peppered with
bullets, possibly by gang members.
The victim reportedly caught some vandals tagging his car and
confronted them. After assaulting the victim, the vandals fled but
returned to the Oakview neighborhood a few minutes later with
handguns and shot numerous rounds into the victim’s vehicle.
Preece responded to the scene, talked at length with the victim
and decided to help raise money to pay for the man’s car after
hearing that the victim couldn’t afford it. The Huntington Beach
Police Officer and Police Management associations, with help from the
Orange County Victim/Witness Program, provided enough money to pay
for all of the damage.
